On riding bikes...

X-man got a nice new bike for his birthday...now comes the fun of teaching him to ride it. I attempted today while wearing L-train in a wrap on my chest. It was...very interesting, and no it didn't go well. We did a lot of X-man sitting on his bike rocking back and forth and me trying to direct him on how to pedal the thing.

He had fun, and we all got outside. L-train slept like a rock until I tried to unwrap him to put him in the Amby Bed. After work Big Daddy tried to give X-man some lessons but apparently when I raised the training wheels so the back tire was touching the ground I got them all uneven, and as X-man said "ish cold and getting 'pooookey dark outside" (aka it's cold and getting spooky dark outside).

For dinner tonight we had Hearty Mixed Bean and Sausage Soup, it's oh so easy! I'm even going to include the recipe for you all.

12 oz dried beans, 3 different varieties 4oz each
1 can corn
1 can black beans (or 4 oz dried black beans as well as the other 3)
1 can diced Italian tomatoes
1 package hot italian sausage (you could use a vegetarian alternative if you like)
10 cups water
10 bouillion cubes (chicken or veggie either works)
Small palm full of parsley, garlic powder and onion powder
Couple shakes of Basil and Oregano

Combine dried beans, water, seasonings, and bouillon in a large crock pot. Remove sausage from the casings and brown in a skillet, once it's done add it to the crock pot and cook on high for 4-5 hrs. Add in tomatoes, corn, canned beans (if using canned) and let heat through. Enjoy!
The picture doesn't do the soup justice at all!
